A Thought
Starting out 2026, I feel like there’s a lot less excitement about the new year today compared to many years ago. Of course I was younger back then, so what do I know, but from watching old videos, it seems like nowadays everyone has their heads more buried in their phones and there’s less excitement for in person activities. That’s a trend I am sad about, so I’m hoping to do more in person hang outs and activities this year, which is part of why I started my NYC Offline series, where I’m challenging myself to do one new/cool activity in New York that I haven’t done before.
This Week, I’m Loving
- Using music and TV to practice my foreign languages of choice during my commutes instead of social media
- Color WOW Extra volume hair mousse; I put this into wet hair just at my scalp and then blowdry my head upside down and it gives me volume and prevents my hair from getting oily so quickly (note this is only going to be good for girls with very oily hair or else it could probably be very drying)
- There’s this song in Farsi called Darling that I found very catchy and have had in my head all week
On Repeat
What I’m watching: Ertugrul in Urdu; I love the show and it’s a great way to practice my Urdu especially because there are no English subtitles. The reason it’s good practice for me personally is because they use words that are slightly less common since it’s a historical drama. So I’m learning random words like ‘qabila’ which means ‘tribe’ and things I wouldn’t otherwise hear.
